A Love Story
Written Update: Episode 8
Tolga calls Ceylan but her phone is answered by a waiter who informs him that Ceylan has passed out after having too many drinks. Tolga asks him his location and rushes to the restaurant. The hotel manager tries to rouse Ceylan and Korkut who seem fast asleep. The waiter is happy to see Tolga and takes him to the table where Ceylan has passed out. He is surprised to see Ceylan with Korkut and asks the waiter what happened there. The waiter tells him that they had too much to drink and that they were kissing each other. Tolga dismisses him for speaking senselessly and gets back to reviving Ceylan. Tolga carefully lifts Ceylan and takes her to his car.
Asiye grouses at Tahsin when he asks her to calm down. She is on tenterhooks waiting for Ceylan to arrive and is almost in tears when she sees Ceylan’s condition in Tolga’s car. Tahsin thanks Tolga for bringing Ceylan safely home as he takes her to their house. Asiye asks Tolga what Ceylan consumed to pass out like that and he says he isn’t sure about that. She retrieves Ceylan’s bag from the back seat and notices Korkut sleeping in the back seat. She asks Tolga about him who tells her that he is his friend. But Asiye doesn’t look fully convinced with his answer.
Asiye clears the breakfast table as the crockery clatter to grab Tahsin’s attention. When her noisy attempt fails she confronts him about last night’s events. She yells at him for sharing every detail of his life’s happenings with Gonul and he justifies that he had to do it as he feared a police case. She refuses to buy his explanation and continues to argue with him. Their commotion reaches Ceylan who wakes up in her bed to see Ece frown at their parent’s fight.
Korkut wakes up in an unfamiliar place. He walks around the room and is surprised to see Tolga sleeping on the couch. He walks down to find Gonul working in the kitchen when she accidentally breaks a glass and twists her ankle over it. Korkut leaps in to help her and she pushes him away, screaming for Tolga to help her. Korkut tears his t-shirt and wraps the piece of cloth around her ankle and she yells at him to stay away. Korkut barks at her and she is quietened by his scream. He calmly repeats to let him help her and she nervously relents. She calls him Ceylan’s boyfriend and he growls that he is isn’t anything to anybody. She pushes him away and limps her way out screaming for Tolga who comes running down hearing Gonul scream.
Gonul scolds him for bringing a stranger to their house and he explains that Korkut was drunk last night and he didn’t know his address so he brought him home. Tolga quickly checks on Korkut who is sitting by the kitchen with tears rolling down his eyes. Tolga tells her that Korkut is his friend and is teaching him swimming and all hell breaks loose as she screams at Tolga for risking his health and learning swimming. She takes him aside and asks him to never bring Korkut again to their house as he scared the living daylights out of her.
When Tahsin returns home he is stunned to see his wife and children ready to leave with their belongings. He walks up to Asiye and requests her to quit her drama and return to their home but she refuses to budge. Tahsin kicks Asiye’s luggage and bellows at her to return. Selim intervenes and grabbing her shoulders requests her to return home and she relents cribbing that she has no respect at all.
Emine tries to persuade Umut to go to school but he refuses saying that his friends mocked her and that he hates them for it. She tries to convince him but he accidentally knocks down the fritters she prepared to sell in the market. He screams at her and just then Korkut walks in. Frightened of his reaction Emine takes the blame for dropping the fritters. (Oh my!! Emine is such a sweet person.)
Surprisingly, Korkut does not get angry but calmly bends down to pick a fritter and eat it. He gobbles on the fritter till he chokes on it. Emine and Umut rub his back and ask him to look skywards to help him swallow the morsel.
Hakki dresses Korkut’s wound that he sustained after clasping a piece of broken glass with his bare palm. Korkut asks Hakki the real reason why he revealed his mother’s name to him and Hakki evades his question asking him to see a doctor.
Korkut then asks Umut the reason why he skipped school. Emine starts to say something when Umut interjects to say that he is suffering from a stomachache. Korkut asks him to go see a doctor and Umut replies that he feels better now. Korkut catches his bluff and asks him to blurt out the real reason.
Umut tells Korkut that his friends mock him and Emine and he hates them for it. Korkut pulls him close and says –
“You will not run because you are scared. No matter what the world says or what people perceive, you have no reason to be frightened. You will have to face them all. Get it? We have to win over them not lose.”
(Am I the only one who feels mesmerised by Korkut’s amazingly clear green eyes? He emotes so well. I always feel lost in his gaze.)
Tolga dresses Gonul’s wound. She then asks him to call Asiye to make something for her. Just then, Ceylan walks in and is startled to see Gonul’s foot in a bandage. Gonul asks for Asiye and Ceylan says her mother is unwell and that she will help instead of her.
Ceylan starts cleaning the glass pieces shattered on the kitchen floor and Tolga crouches behind her. He tells her he knows that Korkut is her boyfriend who came all the way from Germany to Turkey for her. He says there is no point in hiding her affair from him as she is already dating Korkut as they kissed each other in front of everyone last night.
Ceylan is stunned to hear about the kiss but refrains from reacting to it. She rises and asks him to keep out of her personal life as she is only his assistant. He apologizes for his behaviour but she looks too dazed to listen to him and leaves the kitchen in a haste.
Korkut walks Umut to school and meets his friends. He asks them if they mocked Umut’s mother and sweetly says that it is not a good thing and asks them to not repeat it. The little kids fervently nod their heads. Just then, Korkut receives a call from Tolga and he tells him that he is on his way to meet him.
Ceylan gazes at her reflection in the mirror and racks her brains to recall the kiss. She squeals when she finally remembers Korkut kissing her. She prays it to be a nightmare and Ece teases that it has to be a dream or else their mother will not spare her. Ece asks Ceylan if she kissed Tolga or her boyfriend from Germany. But Ceylan’s loses her temper and leaves the house vowing to not spare ‘him’ for kissing her.
Korkut is walking towards Tolga’s house with a bouquet of flowers when he bumps into Ceylan who slaps him hard across his face. She admonishes him for taking advantage of her last night and mocks the bouquet she assumes he bought for her. She tells him to never meet her again. But he unperturbedly walks towards the gate. She blocks him and asks if he understood her or not. He pins her against the wall and tells her that he is here to meet Tolga and goes inside leaving her stranded. She runs after him but is interrupted by her mother who asks to accompany her to some place.
Korkut walks up to Tolga and Gonul and in his voiceover we hear him repeat the same thing he said to Umut about facing the world fearlessly. He presents the bouquet of flowers to Gonul as a token of apology for his behaviour with her in the morning. She accepts the flowers and leaves to rest in her room. As she leaves we see a weird glint in her eyes as a smirk tugs on her lips.
Tolga gets to the point and asks Korkut if he is here for Ceylan. Caught off guard by his question, Korkut says his relationship with Ceylan is a matter to be kept between him and her. Tolga elucidates that Ceylan is unlike other girls and has never dated anybody before. Korkut says that he need not worry as he won’t ever hurt Ceylan and Tolga says that if he ever does so he will have to deal with him. Korkut then plays the ‘big brother’ card on Tolga and asks to help him find a job. Tolga asks him his skills and he says he is suited for the job of a bodyguard or anything that requires him to deal with people.
Eda is on the phone gloating over the stupendous rise in her fanbase when someone rings the doorbell. As she gets to the door a man start pounding on the door and demands she open the door. Frightened, Eda calls the police and informs them of her father trying to forcibly enter her house.
Asiye tricks Ceylan into going to the spa with her. Ceylan moans about being brought to the spa and Asiye says it is ‘time’ they discuss some stuff openly. She tells her that Ceylan is now grown up and that she will soon be married. However, she refuses to let her ruin her life by hooking up with any random guy. She then pretends to look surprised when she spots a friend of hers at the spa but the woman ruins her attempt at acting by blurting out that she was waiting for her to arrive. Ceylan rolls her eyes at her mother’s charade. The lady then describes her son’s profile who is an eligible bachelor but Ceylan is not paying attention as she struggles to shun the image of Korkut kissing her.
Eda apologises to the police for calling them unnecessarily. They ask her about her dad who was supposedly pounding on her door and she clarifies that it was a misunderstanding.
Korkut receives a frantic call from Umut and he rushes to his house. On reaching home, Emine, Umut, and Hakki surprise him with a birthday cake. Umut explains that since he and Emine are twins they share the same birthday and taking the cake to him, Umut asks him to blow the candles but Korkut looks displeased with the whole idea of celebrating his birthday.
Korkut detests the idea of celebrating birthdays of people who are unwanted and abandoned by their families, left to die on the streets. He flips the cake in Umut’s hand before angrily walking out on them.
Eda receives a blank call and she guesses it is her dad trying to scare her. The next blank call she receives she yells into the phone that she knows it is her dad and refuses to leave the place. Desperate, she calls Tolga to come see her.
Ceylan recalls her meeting with Korkut at the traffic signal. She then tears the note he left her in Germany and turns to sleep. Tolga is with Eda who is fast asleep in his arms.
Tolga returns home after staying over at Eda’s house. Gonul scolds him for spending the night out and he justifies that Eda needed him. Gonul sneers if Eda was planning to take a dive in the ocean once again. Tolga is surprised that Gonul knows about the drowning incident and she says she got to know of it from an online report. She tells him that this news report is Eda’s doing and that she is only using Tolga for her benefit. He defends Eda saying that she doesn’t need to use him as she is already popular and rich. Before leaving, he yells that he will not leave her for anything and that Korkut is now his new driver.
Ceylan is on her way out for a date when she sees Korkut listening to music leaning on Tolga’s car. She pokes him to check if he is for real or just a dream and he teases her that since she has been dreaming about him it is clear that she is in love with him. She discourages his attempt at flirting and asks him the reason that brings him there. He tells her to get used to him as he will be frequenting their place now that he is Tolga’s new driver. She says he won’t be Tolga’s driver for long as she will have him fired soon.
Ceylan barges into Tolga’s room and demands he fire Korkut right away or she will quit working for him. He criticizes her for overreacting and says that he is repaying him for saving his life. She leaves the room in a huff and Tolga follows her. She stops on seeing Gonul clean a table and Tolga stops her from doing so as she has asthma. She reminisces her childhood when her mother removed her frustration on Gonul by making her clean the house. Tolga gets emotional on hearing about Gonul’s struggle in life and promises to never trouble her. Gonul reminds him about their shopping trip and confirms if Ceylan is joining them. Tolga tells her that she won’t join them as she has quit her job. Ceylan says that if Korkut works for Tolga she won’t work for him. And Gonul adds that she too dislikes Korkut. However, Tolga puts his foot down and refuses to fire Korkut.
After Tolga leaves, Gonul tells Ceylan that Korkut is here because of her and that she cannot quit her job till Korkut is with Tolga.
